- The Wyoming Home Services WyHS program provides home services to those qualified individuals at least 18 years of age who are at risk of premature institutionalization. These services are designed to keep people in the least restrictive environment for as long as possible.
- Payment for services is based on a sliding fee scale and a mutual agreement between the client receiving services and the service provider.
- No person shall be denied services based upon their inability to pay for services.
- Due to limited funds for each category, services are based on their need of services not necessarily want of services. When maximum numbers are met, clients will be placed on a waiting list.
- Personal care:
- Services are hands-on and shall be performed by a licensed Certified Nurses Aid (CNA) or licensed nurse.
- Activities include, but are not limited to, bathing, transferring, grooming, feeding, ambulating, exercising, oral hygiene, and skincare.
- Note: This program is a social model program, medical interventions are limited.
- Services are hands-on and shall be performed by a licensed Certified Nurses Aid (CNA) or licensed nurse.
- Light Homemaking:
- Services are hands-off and may be provided by Respite and Homemaker staff.
- Activities include, but are not limited to, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping floors and dusting, laundry services. Services do not include any services that would be considered heavy homemaking.
- Shopping:
- Services are hands-off and may be provided by Respite and Homemaker staff.
- Shopping may be conducted for the client as long as services are pre-arranged and a part of the client’s service plan. A shopping list will be completed prior to the visit. Staff may pick up groceries that have been ordered for curbside pick-up from participating stores. Staff is not allowed to pick up alcohol, cigarettes, or medications.
- Respite:
- Services may be hands-off or hands-on dependent upon the level of need of the client.
- Services may be provided by a Respite worker or a licensed CNA.
- Services provide temporary substitute support to the WyHS client, in order to relieve the Client’s provider for a brief period of time. The focus is on the client, not cleaning or other chores.
- Chore (Heavy Housework):
- Services will be provided by contracted providers to provide a specific service.
- These services are only available in order to prevent premature institutionalization and may include, but not limited to moving heavy furniture, washing windows, cleaning baseboards, cleaning floors on hands and knees, shampooing of carpets, deep cleaning of kitchen appliances, cleaning overhead light fixtures & fans, snow removal, & yard maintenance.
- Medication Setup:
- These services allow for a skilled nurse to set up medications for a client on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis, based on the client’s need.
- Personal care:
- Our staff is not allowed to do the following:
- Provide services not agreed upon in the Service Plan
- Provide services to other family members.
- Provide services outside of their scope of practice. Example: providing personal care as a homemaker.
- Accept gifts from clients.
- Transport client in a vehicle, personal vehicle, or client’s vehicle, or ride with the client in a vehicle being driven by the client.
- Handle any banking for clients, including making deposits or withdrawals.
- Handling of medication, picking up prescriptions from doctor or pharmacy.
- Purchase alcohol or cigarettes for the client.
- The Wyoming Home Services (WyHS) Program is a state-funded grant program. It was created to serve Wyoming’s senior citizens and disabled adults 18 years of age and older. Priority is given to individuals at risk of premature institutionalization.
- WyHS is a social program granted to one provider in each county in Wyoming.
