Safe Wyoming Adventure with Pets
Senior Couples Can Plan a Safe Wyoming Adventure with Their Pets
Looking to explore Wyoming with the love of your life and your furry companions? Planning an adventure is such a wonderful way to enjoy the world together. However, before you can start having all of that fun though, you need to take some crucial steps to make sure your journeys are as safe and stress-free as possible. As you plan your upcoming, Wyoming Social Resources Information shares the following tips to make sure you keep some important steps in mind.
Check Out Your Insurance Coverages
Vacation should be all about adventure and fun, but that doesn’t mean that accidents can’t happen along the way. Before you embark on your adventure, be sure to go over any applicable insurance policies. If you’re hitting the open road, you will want to make sure that your auto insurance covers potential mishaps. If your plan is lacking, check out rates and plan to upgrade to a full-coverage policy that includes collision and comprehensive. Further, it is wise to include Gap and Uninsured Motorist when you sign up. It might cost a bit more, but the extra few dollars is well worth the peace of mind.
If you aren’t already a member, now is also a good time to look into AAA services. You can find plans that cover your personal, work, and even rental vehicles in the event of a breakdown. This type of membership provides a lot of peace of mind when you’re exploring the rural areas of Wyoming, especially when you’re several miles from the nearest city area.
Reviewing your health insurance coverage can help as well, especially in terms of emergency services, should you need to visit a hospital during your big adventure (but we really hope you don’t!). It may also be a good idea to let your family know your travel plans and to make sure any estate planning documents are in order before you go on vacation.
Alert Everyone to Your Absence
If your pet is joining you, then you won’t need a pet sitter, but you may want to have someone check on your house from time to time. They can pick up the newspaper and mail, switch lights off and on, and check to make sure there are no emergencies like a broken water pipe. Also, let friends and family know where you’ll be going so that if something happens, they know your whereabouts.
You’ll obviously want to alert your colleagues and supervisor to your absence if you’re still working. Just remember that work should stay at work to help you fully appreciate the sights, sounds, and company. As ZenBusiness reminds you, work and vacation are highly incompatible, so leave work behind until you return.
Keep All Travel Companions Safe and Sound
Insurance can be a real lifesaver in the event of an accident or emergency during your big trip together, but wouldn’t it be nice to avoid those accidents in the first place? Well, you actually can prevent travel disasters by keeping a few basics in mind during your adventures, especially if you’re planning a scenic road trip across Wyoming.
Before you hit the road, have your car inspected to ensure that safety features like headlights, wipers, and brakes are all working properly, and then check it over on your own just before your departure. Once you get in the car, you should make sure everyone inside is buckled up, including any furry travel companions. You can install safety harnesses or seat belts that can keep your canine family members secure, and you can use specialty pods to keep any feline friends safe in the event of an accident.
It’s also a good idea to stock your car with an emergency kit, including water and blankets, so that you can protect your loved ones if you break down or get stuck along the way. Lastly, never let your car’s tank fall below ¼ tank. It can be a very long way between gas stations in Wyoming. You also shouldn’t rely on an electric vehicle. Charging stations are few and far between, and they’re not all designed for every model of electric car.
Map Out Any Must-See Sights or Attractions
Now that you have the safety portion of your trip planned, you can move along to the fun part: planning your adventure! Proper trip planning will allow you to schedule plenty of time to see the sights without stressing out, so research popular destinations beforehand.
In Wyoming, if you’re looking for an adventure for you and your spouse, you really don’t have to look very far. You could very well spend your entire trip exploring Yellowstone or Grand Teton National Parks, and still never run out of exciting things to do. Visitors are bound to see wildlife in Yellowstone, like bears, bison, and maybe even wolves, and have a blast with activities like white water rafting, skiing, or horseback riding in Grand Teton. Now, if you do plan on experiencing these parks with pets, you should be aware of any rules or restrictions. Pets are generally allowed in developed areas but must be on a leash for their safety and the safety of any local wildlife or other visitors you may encounter.
There’s no better way to enjoy your golden years than to spend time traveling with your spouse and pets. Make sure to properly plan the logistics of your trip in advance, and take safety precautions before you head out. This way, you can safely enjoy all of the breathtaking sights and activities Wyoming has to offer!
