- Services:
- Best Beginnings: Provide education and resources to pregnant women on an individual or group basis. Help with access to Medicaid. Smoking cessation assistance and referral. Public Health Nurses provide services to the Children’s Development Centers.
- Welcome Home Visits: The nurses from Public Health offer a free home visit to all new mothers in Lincoln County.
- Breastfeeding Support/Education: We provide Breast Pumps and Breast Pump Rental. RN’s are Certified Lactation Consultants.
- Children’s Special Health/Premature Newborn Service: The nurses from Public Health offer follow-up for children with special healthcare needs. We provide coordination of care by helping families access services. Provide financial assistance for qualifying medical conditions.
- Immunizations: Public Health offers immunizations for children ages 2 months to 18 years with vaccines provided by the State of Wyoming Department of Health’s Vaccines for Children program. We also offer vaccines for adults 19 years and older.
- Rapid Strep Testing: Public Health can test for strep throat in both office locations. Results are immediate and nurses provide a test result referral for you to take to your healthcare provider along with education for you about strep throat. Tests are $20. Call for an appointment or for nurse availability for a walk in test.
- Child Passenger Safety Seat Technician: Public Health has a car seat technician available to assist with car seat installation and answer questions. We have plenty of education on car seat safety available in our offices. We have a limited quantity of car seats available for a reduced cost donation (or free if necessary) for those who need them.
- Medicaid Adult Long Term Care Waiver Assessment: Nurses assess adults in the community for the Medicaid waiver.
- HIV testing and Counseling: Trained RN’s provide Rapid HIV testing with immediate results and follow-up counseling.
- Ryan White Case Management: Provides case management for HIV positive individuals in the community.
- Disease Investigation and Surveillance: Nurses work with WDH to follow-up on communicable disease outbreaks in the community. Provide case management for individuals with latent tuberculosis.
- Emergency and Disaster Preparedness: Our office plays an active role in the development of community plans for the early detection and rapid response to biological or chemical events, infectious disease outbreaks, hazardous material spills, and natural disasters. The Public Health Emergency Response Coordinator assists the Public Health Nurses in preparing the agency and community for a public health emergency. Our agency partners with the Sheriff’s Department and the County Emergency Management.
- Community Coalitions: Public Health is involved in community coalitions that promote healthy lifestyles for our citizens. We have representation on Suicide Prevention coalitions, the Child and Adult Protection teams, Human Resource Council, Early Childhood Coalition. We also participate with Star Valley Medical Center and South Lincoln Medical Center on a Community Health Needs Assessment to identify and address health risk of county residents.
