A no-cost public service for people who have a hearing loss or speech disability to communicate with standard telephone users.
WYRED Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Be a Wyoming citizen;

Be able to understand the nature and use of equipment, and how to care for it appropriately;

Be willing to self-certify to having a hearing and/or speech disability (may also have vision loss in conjunction with either hearing loss or speech disability); and
-
Meet a financial needs test by providing information on the applicant’s financial resources.
Hard-of-hearing individuals meeting the eligibility criteria will receive new equipment free of charge, with a three-year warranty. WYRED transfers ownership of the equipment to the approved applicant (client), who is then responsible for the care, maintenance, and repair/replacement of the equipment under the terms of the warranty. If the equipment malfunctions after the warranty has expired, the client may re-apply for new equipment; if approved, the client is required to return the old (broken) equipment to WYRED prior to receiving new equipment. In the event the equipment is stolen, the client may be eligible to receive replacement equipment by providing a police report to WYRED.
